In the blue corner, DC: the people who started it all. They gave us Superman and Batman. Without DC, we wouldn’t have skin-tight costumes and capes.

And in the red corner, Marvel: the people who made it relatable. They gave us Spider-Man and Howard the Duck: heroes with problems. And of course, they gave birth to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Well, now it’s Clobbering Time.

We’re bringing two teams of experts together to find out which comic colossus is truly the greatest!

Hosted by the brilliant (and unbiased) Emma Vieceli, our teams will slug it out to settle this thing once and for all.

This unmissable face-off sees Frank Quitely taking the lead for DC, up against Peter Kessler as the champion for Marvel.

And, of course, the ultimate arbiters: you.

This epic debate will all be decided with a public vote. So come and take part in the definitive debate of the decade.

International panellists will include Joe Kelly (USA – Deadpool), Steven Appleby (UK – Dragman), Kaisa Leka (Finland – Female Mutant Ninja Turtles), Peter Kessler (UK – award-winning TV producer), Frank Quitely (UK – All Star Superman) and Dr Sarita Robinson (UCLAN).

The debate will be accompanied by a live draw by festival favourites Luke and Steve McGarry from the USA.

The evening will culminate with the announcement of the next Comics Laureate 2019-2021 and the recipient of the second Sergio Aragonés International Award for Excellence in Comic Art.

Opening event supported by NCS and Comics Laureate supported by Peter Kessler
