The Lakes International Comic Art Festival will be taking place from Friday 14 - Sunday 16 October 2022 in Bowness-on-Windermere!

This year's festival promises to be better than ever, with the best comic artists, writers and creators heading to the Lake District for a packed comic art weekend spectacular.

A world of comic art is coming to Bowness-on Windermere in the beautiful Lake District for the 10th Lakes International Comic Art Festival, 14–16 October 2022!

This year we're super excited to have multiple venues within Bowness-on-Windermere, on the east banks of Lake Windermere.

Buses to Bowness-on-Windermere

555 runs from Lancaster to Keswick and back stopping at Kendal, Staveley and Windermere

599 runs from Windermere Station to Bowness Pier and back

Free Festival Bike Hire From Windermere Jetty Museum

If you fancy a bit of extra exercise between venues over the weekend then we can help out thanks to the Lake District National Park team. They are providing a flotilla of bicycles for the weekend which are free to hire for 2 hours at a time from the Windermere Jetty Museum.

You’ll need to be aged 18+ and have photo ID with you (Driving Licence, Passport etc) to secure the booking. Helmets provided.


The Festival Shuttle Bus will be running on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 October between Kendal and Bowness-on-Windermere.

The pick up point in Kendal is outside the Premier Inn on Maud Street and the drop off is The Glebe in Bowness-on-Windermere, near the Lakeview Comics Marketplace..  

The Festival Shuttle Bus will be FREE for Festival Pass Holders and Marketplace Exhibitors.

DURATION: 15-20 minutes
SEATING CAPACITY: there are 2 buses for each journey maximum 32 people

Kendal Premier Inn, Maud Street to The Glebe in Bowness-on-Windermere

Saturday: First trip to Bowness-on-Windermere will depart at 8.30am then at 9.30am and one at 10.30am

Sunday: First trip to Bowness-on-Windermere will depart at 8.30am then at 9.30am

The Glebe in Bowness-on-Windermere to Kendal Premier Inn, Maud Street

Saturday: First return trip to Kendal Premier Inn, Maud Street will depart at 6.30pm, then at 9.00pm and one at 11pm

Sunday: First return trip to Kendal Premier Inn, Maud Street will depart at 4pm and then final departure at 6pm

PLEASE NOTE: The shuttle buses are with Mountain Goat and will have limited seating capacity of 32 people on 2 buses - availability will be on a first come first seated offer.


The Weekend Festival Shuttle Bus will run between the 3 main venues in Bowness-on-Windermere (which are the Windermere Jetty Museum, the Old Laundry Theatre in the Beatrix Potter attraction building and the Lakeview Comics Marketplace near The Glebe).

This will run between 9.30am and 6pm on Saturday and 9.30am – 5pm on Sunday.
