Great Combo: Comics, The Environment, Local Schools and Kendal Library!

Comics created by pupils from local Kendal primary schools will be going on on display in Kendal Library on Monday 22nd May until Monday 5th June 2023, a project supported by the Lakes International Comic Art Festival - and there are free drop-in creative sessions coming up, too, on  Saturday 27th May.

The comics were created by pupils from Heron Hill, Stramongate, Ghyllside and Sandgate schools were all inspired by the theme, "The Environment".

Each school responded to the theme in their own unique style with creativity and imagination. Favourite outdoor activities in local landscape, ways to look after the environment and our community, facts about bees, endangered species and climate change contributed to the inspiration and visual delights of the pupils’ comics.

The display will be open to the public and will remain at Kendal Library until Monday 5th June 2023.

The project was funded by Kendal Town Council, with The Lakes International Comic Art Festival for supporting creativity, literacy and wellbeing through comics in education, and to all the pupils and schools for taking part.

On Saturday 27th May from 10.30am until 12.30pm there will be the opportunity for youngsters and their families to take part in free drop-in creative sessions at Kendal Library, hosted by Arts Educator and Little LICAF co-producer Hester Harrington.

Pop in, come and say hi, make a comic, read a book, see the artwork on display and visit the newly refurbished library!
