From the world of comic strips come the creators of Zits, Baby Blues, Mutts, Cathy, The Family Circus, Luann, Lio, Popeye, Beetle Bailey and dozens more, all at the first Festival taking place over 17th - 19th May 2019.

Animation stars include the people that bring you The Simpson and Bojack Horseman, as well as Disney legend Floyd Norman, while the comic book world is represented by such greats as Ghost World creator Daniel Clowes, Love and Rockets creators Gilbert and Jaime Hernandez and Charlie Adlard of The Walking Dead fame.

Also attending will be New Yorker cartoonists, stars of MAD Magazine, Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonists and an incredible array of talent from the UK, Australia, Argentina, Quebec, Belgium, Switzerland and France, including Brazen creator Pénélope Bagieu.

NCSFest is the largest and most ambitious comic arts festival ever staged in the United States and events include appearances at the beach, a giant comic creation on the iconic pier, four blocks of Downtown Huntington Beach devoted to a Family Zone, Marketplace and Artists alley, live workshops and creator readings at the library, major international exhibitions at the Arts Center and much, much more ... all completely free to the public. In addition, there are Premium ticketed events at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa!

The event is the brainchild of Steve McGarry, the syndicated cartoonist and story artist who serves as President of the NCS Foundation, the charitable and educational arm of the National Cartoonists Society. To help fulfill his vision of putting the NCS at the heart of a free cartoon arts festival to rival the great European events, he enlisted the aid of Julie Tait, Director of the fastest-growing festival in the UK, the Lakes International Comic Arts Festival. With the aid of an incredibly strong team and an army of volunteers – as well as the expertise of Mathieu Diez, the Director of French festival Lyon BD – and the full support of the city of Huntington Beach, NCSFest was born.
