Jung
Born 2nd December 1965 in Seoul, South Korea, Jung was adopted at the age of five by a Belgian family. After publishing many genre comics such as Kwaidan, published by Delcourt, he began Couleur de peau: miel in 2007, a four-volume autobiographical graphic novel series for the Delcourt-Soleil group.
The adaptation of Couleur de peau: Miel to film, which he co-directed, received in 2012 the public prize Unicef au Festival International du Film d’Animation d’Annecy, followed by the Grand Prize at the 17th Japan Media Arts Festival in Tokyo in 2013. Many awards will follow, including the Grand Prix and the Audience Award in Zagreb, Croatia.
In 2014, Jung presented his film in New York, at the United Nations as part of a special screening on the theme of tolerance. This timeless animated film has been in the “College at the Cinema” program since 2015.
He continues his activity in comics with striking books, such as Babybox, Le voyage de Phoënix (“The Votage of The Phoenix”), Nos Adoptions (“Our Adoptions”, told in two volumes) and Destins coréens (“Korean Destinie”), in collaboration with Laëtitia Marty. Together, they made their first documentary auteur film, Tout ce qui nous relie (“Everything that connects us”), partially funded thanks to a crowdfunding campaign on Ulule.
