The Lakes International Comic Art Festival is delighted to announce its comic creator workshops taking place over the Festival weekend (15th -17th October) in Kendal, Cumbria, hosted by comic creators that include artist and writer Matt Smith, Instagram comic star Clarice Tudor and others.

The Lakes International Comic Art Festival is delighted to confirm that award-winning graphic novelist Dave McKean, designer of this year’s promotional artwork, is joining this year’s guest line-up in Kendal in October.

Comic Art Europe’s first new comic creators summer camp – part of a pan-European project led by the Lyon BD Festival that includes the Lakes International Comic Art Festival as a partner – took place last week in Barcelona. 

17 students from all around Europe shared their joint comic creating passion and learnt about creating comics professionally at Escola Joso, Centre de Còmic i Arts Visuals, and the Spanish organisers say the experience was amazing.

British comic creator Lyndon White is the focus for the latest Lakes International Comic Art Festival Podcast, an illustrator, writer and comic artist who’s been creating comics for over eight years, producing a huge range of comics and graphic novels including Sparks, The Mind of James Svengal and his latest book, Candles. 

A Call for Papers for Comics Up Close – New Perspectives in Comic Art, the opening event of Lakes International Comic Art Festival on 15th October 2021, has just been announced by the team from LICAF and ReOPeN, Lancaster University’s graphic novels and comics pedagogy, research and engagement network.

The festival events programme is now online and tickets for this year’s Lakes International Comic Art Festival are now on sale. More guests have been announced, joining an already star-studded line-up for the in-person weekend long celebration of comics in Kendal, Cumbria, running 15th – 17th October 2021.

The team at the Lakes International Comic Art Festival Podcast have landed a great interview with comic creator Jeff Lemire, the man who brought us Sweet Tooth, on their latest episode.

Jeff who, due to filming commitments, will this year be a virtual guest of the Festival in Kendal in October, has written some amazing books including Underwater Welder, Sweet Tooth and more. Streaming service Netflix has now adapted Sweet Tooth into a full series, produced by Robert Downey Jr.
