Zoom Rockman announced as new Festival Patron

The Lakes International Comic Art Festival is delighted to announce its latest patron - cartoonist Zoom Rockman, who sprang to comics fame at a young age with his work for the humour weekly, Beano.

Zoom Rockman is a British artist/ satirist whose comic strip, Skanky Pigeon first appeared in the Beano when he was 12 years old. Age 16, he became the youngest cartoonist in Private Eye magazine history.

Cartoonist and illustrator Tillie Walden is the latest guest of the Lakes International Comic Art Festival Podcast, a comics creator with a track record of producing some amazing books, including The End of Summer, released in 2015 by Avery Hill Publishing and Spinning, released last year. She also makes the webcomic called On a Sunbeam.

This year the festival will run from Friday 12 to Sunday 14 October with the Comics Clock Tower open for business as usual on the Saturday and Sunday. We will also be creating more space this year to expand the number and range of exhibitors.

Lancaster University to host Sketch 2017 Exhibition

Lancaster University - one of our key partners in the Festival - is hosting an exhibition celebrating the creative space of sketchbooks and journals at the Peter Scott Gallery which opens on 22nd November 2017, launching an exhibition which runs until December.
