The Lakes International Comic Art Festival would like to announce a last-minute change to its planned events for its 2017 Festival weekend.

Unfortunately, post his busy New York Comic Con schedule, writer Peter Milligan (whose new Dan Dare comic launches this week) has taken ill and is unable to attend.

The Lakes International Comic Art Festival is a celebration of the comic art form in all its genres, styles and creative forms. The Festival exists to progress the comic art form, support the industry and to deliver an amazing festival experience for our visitors. We are now in our fifth year and each year we work hard to improve and build on what’s working and learn from the feedback we have received.

This year, we have been challenged over our approach to diversity, specifically race and religion. The Festival is of course concerned that such comments have been made.

She was the first woman and first Canadian to win the National Cartoonist Society's Reuben Award.

Sergio Aragonés, the world’s fastest cartoonist, will be making a rare appearance as part of the Lakes International Comic Art Festival (13th – 15th October in Kendal, Cumbria).

One of the most famous and influential living cartoonists, Sergio, perhaps best known for his work on MAD Magazine, is world renowned for his fast and witty cartooning style. He has won every major award in the field, including the National Cartoonists Society’s Reuben Award, and the Will Eisner Hall of Fame Award.
