Lakes Festival Focus 2019: Emma Price

Every year, in the countdown to the Lakes International Comic Art Festival in October, we bring you a series of interviews with guests at the event. This “Festival Focus” for 2019 is with Emma Price, a multidisciplinary graphic designer and illustrator who, among other things, designs comic books. She's created logos and books with many talented teams including Image Comics' Savage Town and Angelic, Vertigo's Motherlands and Aftershock Comics' Stronghold.

Currently living in Tallinn with his wife and four kids, he studied graphic design at the Estonian Academy of Arts (graduated 2004). Since then, he has been working as a freelance comic artist, illustrator and designer.

Duncan Fegredo's Hellboy Exhibition opens this Saturday

The stage is set! From the Depths, a celebration of the acclaimed Hellboy artwork of Duncan Fegredo opens this Saturday (21st September) in Kendal, ahead of this year's Lakes International Comic Art Festival next month.

As we previously reported, the exhibition will delve into Fegredo’s working techniques and uncover how images are summoned from the written script.

Marking an impressive landmark bringing over 200 hours of comics content to your ears, the latest episode of the Lakes International Comic Art Festival Podcast  - Episode 60, no less! - brings with it a smashing interview with artist and author Kate Charlesworth, talking all about her new book Sensible Footwear, A Girls Guide. The book looks at the history of the LGBT community and the hardships (and joys) she dealt with through her own life.

With little over a month to go before this year's Lakes International Comic Art Festival (11th – 13th October 2019) in Kendal, work is proceeding apace on a number of exhibitions at the event, These will include an exclusive take on the Hellboy comics of Duncan Fegredo, the previously-announced Smurfs and Tom of Finland exhibitions and more.
