Festival Lends Support to Lancaster Comics day in June
Comics editor and publisher John Freeman, who is also part of our team, will be plugging Lancaster Comics Day (and the Lakes International Comic Art Festival) on this week’s “Friday Night Three” show airing on Beyond Radio (7 – 9.00pm, 103.5FM across Lancaster and Morecambe and also online).
2017 is one hundred years since the birth of American cartoonist Will Eisner. An innovative tour de force in the comic art form, Eisner is noted for his experimental and cutting edge approach, including his legendary comic strip ‘The Spirit’ – a 16 page comics supplement that ran for 12 years from 1940 - 1952. To mark this special centenary year for Will Eisner we would like to welcome some crime-stopping creativity to the Lake District in comic art style!
Don’t miss the Gala Opening Night on Friday 13 October
On his first appearance in the UK the legendary Sergio Aragonés will demonstrate his quick-fire genius together with superstars from the USA's cartooning scene - Luke McGarry, Rick Stromoski and Tom Richmond, MC'ed by Steve McGarry.
There'll be some surprise guest appearances and plenty of interactive elements suitable for all ages.
We are also delighted to be revealing the first ever recipient of The Sergio Aragonés International Award for Excellence in Comic Art.
