The Lakes International Comic Art Festival will be hosting the LICAF Academic Sessions 2017 on Friday 13th October, the first day of its three-day Festival Weekend, kindly supported by Lancaster University.

The Festival Weekend features over 70 international guests, including Sergio Aragonés, Stan Sakai, Comics Laureate Charlie Adlard, Hannah Berry, Melinda Gebbie, Jason Latour, Brendan McCarthy and many more.

The Lakes International Comic Art Festival has announced the comic creators who will have a presence in their free-to-enter Comics Clock Tower venue in Kendal Town Hall in October.

This year, the Lakes Festival is moving to a pass system for the festival. The main events programme will be exclusive to pass-holders, there will be exclusive guest-related goodies and a fancy wristband identifying you as a festival supporter!

We're saddened to note the passing of one of Brtitish comics great.s Leo Baxendale, who the Festival plans to honour later this year with the unveiling of a permanent artwork in Kendal's Brewery Arts Centre.

Comics editor and publisher John Freeman, who is also part of our team, will be plugging Lancaster Comics Day (and the Lakes International Comic Art Festival) on this week’s “Friday Night Three” show airing on Beyond Radio (7 – 9.00pm, 103.5FM across Lancaster and Morecambe and also online).

This year's Game Mania takes place at Blackpool's Winter Gardens on 6th and 7th May 2017 - and the Lakes Festival team will be there, to promote the upcoming weekend in October.
