A ground-breaking exhibition of comic art by Fumio Obata, On the Palm of Unknown, has gone on display at the Beacon Museum in Whitehaven, Cumbria, running until 25th March 2018.

Commissioned by Lakes International Comic Arts Festival, the art project makes surprising connections between the nuclear plants at Fukushima and Sellafield.

The Lakes International Comic Art Festival is delighted to announce its latest patron - cartoonist Zoom Rockman, who sprang to comics fame at a young age with his work for the humour weekly, Beano.

Zoom Rockman is a British artist/ satirist whose comic strip, Skanky Pigeon first appeared in the Beano when he was 12 years old. Age 16, he became the youngest cartoonist in Private Eye magazine history.

The latest episode of the Lakes International Comic Art Festival Podcast is online now and leads with an interview with sisters Scarlett and Sophie Rickard who have created their own publishing company, Gluepot Books, publishers of the hugely enjoyable canine-inspired comic tale (no pun intended) Mann’s Best Friend.

Cartoonist and illustrator Tillie Walden is the latest guest of the Lakes International Comic Art Festival Podcast, a comics creator with a track record of producing some amazing books, including The End of Summer, released in 2015 by Avery Hill Publishing and Spinning, released last year. She also makes the webcomic called On a Sunbeam.

The Three Rooms in Valerie's Head, a new graphic novel by David Gaffney and Dan Berry explores relationships, memory, loneliness and obsession in a darkly humorous way - and debuts very soon, published by US publisher Top Shelf.
