Comic Art Europe Guests revealed – and the debut of a “Festival Fringe”

We're delighted to confirm five more incredible comic creators for this year’s annual Festival in Bowness-on-Windermere (29th September – 1st October 2023), joining the event thanks to our continued partnership with Comic Art Europe.

We are also pleased to announce the first unofficial “Festival Fringe” at this year’s weekend-long event, spearheaded by creators that include Dan Berry, Lucy Sullivan and Kev F. Sutherland.

First Graphic Novel Award open for submissions

The London-based Cartoon Museum and top independent publisher SelfMadeHero have announced the launch of the 2023 First Graphic Novel Award for debut UK authors who have not previously been published. 

We are delighted to be supporting this Award, alongside Thought Bubble, and other organisations.

Award-winning comic creators join Festival lineup

We're delighted to announce another fine mix of guests for our annual Festival (29th September – 1st October 2022) in Bowness-on-Windermere, including Hunt Emerson, winner of the 2018 Sergio Aragonés International Award for Excellence in Comic Art, and caricaturist, cartoonist and humorous illustrator Tom Richmond.

Hunt, Tom and Jad (George Khoury), Fouad Mezher, Seif Eddine Nechi and Václav Šlajch join previously-announced guests at the event, with more to be revealed soon.

Comic Art Europe's newest exhibition opens in June

This June, you will be able to visit Comic Art Europe's newest exhibition for the first time, and we're delighted to be involved in the project.

Back in 2022, together with four organisations, including the Lakes International Comic Art Festival, CAE launched an open call on the theme “Living Together”. Artists were invited to reflect on their interpretation of “Living Together” in the modern world and illustrate it.

The Lakes International Comic Art Festival has launched its quest for a new Comics Laureate, who will be announced at this year’s annual gathering in Bowness-on-Windermere (Friday 29th September – Sunday 1st October 2023).

Make Mine Manga exhibition set to tour the North West

Coming soon to the North West is Make Mine Manga, a free, touring exhibition for anyone curious about manga, as well as the avid fan. 

The exhibition explores the origins of manga in Japan, the creative techniques behind the art and the wonder of Manga-Anime. The exhibition features artwork from incredible creators from Japan and UK manga creators.

We're absolutely delighted to announce award-winning comic creators Mai Koraiem and Sean Phillips as guests at this year’s annual weekend long gathering in Bowness-on-Windermere, returning Friday 29th September – Sunday 1st October 2023.
