Great Combo: Comics, The Environment, Local Schools and Kendal Library!

Comics created by pupils from local Kendal primary schools will be going on on display in Kendal Library on Monday 22nd May until Monday 5th June 2023, a project supported by the Lakes International Comic Art Festival - and there are free drop-in creative sessions coming up, too, on  Saturday 27th May.

The comics were created by pupils from Heron Hill, Stramongate, Ghyllside and Sandgate schools were all inspired by the theme, "The Environment".

"Little LICAF" crowdfunding campaign launched to offer more events for young comics readers at annual Festival

We have just launched a “Little LICAF” crowdfunding campaign to offer more events for young comics readers at its 2023 Festival later this year.

Little LICAF offers a free space at the Festival for children and their families, and also offers free online resources on the organisation’s official web site, with the aim of reaching non-comics readers, disadvantaged children and their families and those from the autistic community.

Since it began in 2013, the Lakes International Comic Art Festival has relied on a trusty and experienced team of volunteers, known as The Red Shirt Brigade. We are always looking for new volunteers to join us over our annual weekend (29th September - 1st October 2023) - and if you think you might be interested, we would love to hear from you!
