Lakes International Comic Art Festival announces “Comic Potential”, a new Comics Literacy Project

The Lakes International Comic Art Festival has announced Comic Potential, a new programme to further progress an existing body of work which assesses comics potential in the classroom, and support learning outcomes, working with four schools in the North West of England, supported by Paul Hamlyn Foundation’s Arts-based Learning Fund.

Yakapedia - Panel Beaters with Gustavo Vargas

Pete Taylor returns for another Yakapedia episode of the Lakes International Comic Art Festival Podcast, with a difference. Entitled "Panel Beaters", Pete is planning on speaking to a range of creators, talking to them about their processes and favourite ways they produce their comic pages.

Lake District welcome for comic creator Bernard Hage for "Living Together" residency

Lebanese artist Bernard Hage, also known as "The Art of Boo", has arrived in the Lake District for a two-week comics residency, as one of the winners of the Comic Art Europe 2022 Open Call, which challenged comic creators to come up with work based on the theme, “Living Together”.

The Tizzie-Whizie - A Lovable Lakes Legend

Lake District legend has it that if you have your ear to the ground and listen very intently, you may just hear a subtle squeaking.

This melodious murmuring has been considered by some to be a thing of myth… but it could very well be the gentle reverberating sound of the elusive Tizzie-Whizie.

If you hear it… be sure to look up quickly and keep your eyes peeled – you might just get a rare glimpse of this adorable mythical marvel!

Lancaster University, Lakes International Comic Art Festival announces “Things & The Mind” project launch

Lancaster University and the Lakes International Comic Art Festival are joining forces to organize an event directed towards supporting learners’ mental health.

Young people’s wellbeing has been deteriorating at an unprecedented speed. This free online event, taking place Tuesday 28th June, is tailored for all colleagues at schools who would like to be better equipped with creative resources and methods that can help learners’ wellbeing, and offers one way of engaging young people with this important aspect of their lives.
