Lazarus artist Michael Lark joins Festival 2019 Line Up

US comic artist Michael Lark has just been announced as a guest at this year's Lakes International Comic Art Festival (www.comicartfestival.com - tickets on sale now!) in a quick interview yesterday with John Freeman for BBC Radio Lancashire Breakfast, with Graham Liver.

In his nearly thirty years in the comics industry, he has drawn many of the most iconic characters in the medium, including Spider-Man, Captain America, Daredevil, Batman, Superman, and many others.

Catching up with the new Comics Laureate!

Reaching a terrific milestone with Episode 50, the latest Lakes International Comic Art Festival Podcast catches up with the Hannah Berry, who has now taken on the reigns as the UK Comics Laureate, a post she'll hold for the next two years.

Hannah, one of the 2019 Festival guests announced so far for October in Kendal, talks to hosts Ian Loxam and Nikki Bates about parenthood, the state of comics at the moment and her plans as the Laureate.

She’s best known for her acclaimed debut graphic novel BARKING, based on her own experience of a mental health crisis. A new edition launched in 2024 with Avery HillPublishing, and is part the Required Reading List for UCLA’s Art & Trauma Collegiate.

Alongside her own comics and zines, Lucy has created a variety of commissions for Dark Horse, Image Tiny Onion for titles including Hey, Amateur!, The Department Of Truth:Wild Fictions and Black Hammer, as well as the short comic Betwixt, Between commissioned by Jeff Lemire.
