How Comics have a positive impact in the classroom

The final artist workshops for our two year research project looking at how Comics have a positive impact in the classroom took place last week. George Hastwell School, in Barrow, and Sandgate, in Kendal, were visited by Alastair Fleming for an incredible session demonstrating how Comics can be used in the wider world.

Ultimately, the Festival has always wanted to find ways to get British comics seen more widely, and to provide a platform for the developments of creators’ careers. 

Make Mine Manga - Manga Character Design Competition

Love creating your own characters? Interested in drawing and illustrating? Are you a fan of Manga? If so, pick up a competition sheet from your local library in Cumbria – and create your own Manga character!

Westmorland and Furness Council are running a Manga Character Design Competition in connection to with the Lakes International Comic Art Festival-organised "Make Mine Manga Exhibition" at Barrow Library, which is on display there until 18th May 2024

British Comics Now delegation heads to Toronto Comic Art Festival

The Lakes International Comic Art Festival is delighted to release a new video promoting the British Comics Now! project, championing the voices of UK comic creators and publishers, as their delegation heads to Toronto Comic Art Festival this weekend (11th – 12th May 2024).
